The Livestrong LS10.0E is the mid range elliptical by Johnson on behalf of Livestrong Fitness. It's actually very reasonably priced compared to other manufacturers mid range machines, it being less than $1,000.00.
It's been designed to give the most natural ride as you workout. It does this with overlapping pedal rotations. This means your feet are close together and not awkwardly apart which relieves any pressure you may feel in your lower leg. You'll be able to get more done in your workout because of this.
The console on the LS10.0E is very user friendly, it's extra wide so you can easily see the readings as you ride. Nearly every operation can be started or changed with a single push of a button. You don't want anything complicated while you're in the middle of a hard workout. It uses electricity very efficiently to power it so you won't be hit with large electricity bills as a result of having this elliptical.
If you press one of the blue numbers on the left of the console the incline will change. There's a choice from 0 to 100 in factors of 10. The blue numbers on the right allow you to change the resistance level and it goes from 2 to 20. These are just one button pushes or you maybe slightly more used to pressing an up or down button and you have those as well. There is a fan which is a feature I always like to see on a console these days.
There are 10 workout programs and this includes the manual one. The names of the programs describe what you can expect when riding and what fitness aims you may have. For example there is a weight loss program. This has you riding for an extended period of time on a lower intensity. This will help you burn calories more effectively and lose you weight. If weight loss is your aim then repeated rides with this program is highly recommended.
Another program is the muscle toner which as it suggests will tone your muscles and give your overall body a nice shape. This will be a slightly higher intensity to really get the muscles working which helps tone them. You may want to combine this with the weight loss program for an excellent combination of weight loss and shape to your body. That's if you have the time. As with all exercise make sure you have rest days for your muscles to recover.
A nice program is the trail. Here you'll have periods of high intensity as well as low intensity, a bit like rolling hills. This is great for when you're getting a bit bored of your workouts or feel like another challenge. You can set the time on these programs so it's totally up to you for how long you do them for. Always aim for around 30 minutes though when you workout as this is the government's recommendation.
As you can see in the picture the pedals run on rails. This means it guides your lower leg for the optimum stride. The rails also give the elliptical extra strength as the pedals have their own separate support. The flywheel is located at the front and is a heavy flywheel which will provide a smooth motion when you ride. The resistance is applied to the flywheel magnetically.
The assembled weight of the LS10.0E is 205 lbs. This is more than most people weigh so make sure you try to assemble it in the room you want it. Livestrong Fitness currently offer free inside delivery which is usually about $99 elsewhere so it's worth taking up this opportunity while you can. It can be transported if you lift up the rear and slide it wherever you want it to go.
The great thing about this elliptical is the ability to workout the lower body and upper body. Not even a treadmill can match this. The fact that a resistance is given to the upper body means it will tone your chest, shoulders and arms. For women you won't look too big because you don't have testosterone and for men that means a bigger nice shape to your body.
Max user weight
The maximum user weight is 325 lbs or 147 kg. It gets 3 stars out of 5 because you can get better. But for an elliptical that costs less than a $1,000 this is actually quite good. This should help you decide that this is a sturdy elliptical if it can handle that weight. You should have a good idea if you wish to purchase at the moment.
The warranty is lifetime for the frame, 3 years parts, and 1 years labor. Again like the maximum user weight this is good for how much the LS10.0E costs. This can be extended at a price but if you were thinking that then I'd ask you to look at the Livestrong LS13.0E which is just less than $200 more and has a fantastic rating and a better warranty (93%, $1,199.99 and 2 years labor).
At the time of writing the LS10.0E is $999.99. This gets 4 stars as I think this is very good value for what you're getting. The console is brilliant and more than you'd expect for the price. You get a lot of good workout programs that will keep you occupied for years and you'll be able to get some good workouts done with what is a sturdy and feature packed elliptical.
The score of 80% isn't so great but then it's the maximum user weight and the warranty that let's it down. The user weight isn't so important and the warranty can be extended. If you like Livestrong and there's no reason why not, then this is one to consider. Like I said above if you can spend just $200 more you'll get the equalled highest score elliptical on the website which is also Livestrong and is the LS13.0E.
Of all the reviews on this site, 80% is the best score given to an elliptical that's $1,000.00 or less. There are 6 that I've reviewed on here so that's a bit of a ringing endorsement for this elliptical. So if a thousand dollars is all you want to pay then I'd have to advise that in my opinion you can't do better than this LS10.0E elliptical.
