The Livestrong LS13.0E is the most expensive elliptical that Livestrong make but at $1,199.00 you can see it's a mid to low range price. You get some great features in what is one of the best ellipticals I've seen.
It gets equalled the highest score of any of the ellipticals I've reviewed here and is only one of two that gets 5 out of 5 for value, It's the only Livestrong elliptical that does. Below I'll explain each of the details in full and why I say it's highly recommended.
The consoles of all Livestrong ellipticals are very similar. I like the ones that have the pictures of mountain ranges for you to ride through and the LS13.0E console has this. It also has what you come to expect from home ellipticals today which is good considering the price and that's a fan and an ipod docking station with speakers. The readings come in a compact window and everything's been well thought out.
You have nice big start and stop buttons in the appropriate green and red immediately at the beginning of the console. Either side is the up and down for the incline on the left and resistance to the right. Further up the console you have one button pushes to select a specific incline height or resistance. As I say it's a typical Livestrong console and they are impressive and modern.
Being the best Livestrong elliptical the LS13.0E has the most varied and biggest number of programs. They have programs that the others have plus a few extra. So if you've seen some you like on their LS8.0E or the LS10.E you won't be missing out by choosing this elliptical, you'll be gaining. Not forgetting the manual one which, let's face it, everyone uses the most.
Some additional programs are Lance's Descent. This is where you start on a high level of resistance and incline and go into a descent as the name suggests. This is excellent at working the strength of your muscles. The start will really tire you out but you have to keep going as the program gets slightly easier as you ride. It's definitely one for those who want to build muscles and stamina.
I like that it has custom programs where you can design your own routines. They are a great way of making a routine that challenges you and works you out in a very specific way. If you want a gentle climb followed by an incline then into a long fat burning marathon and perhaps a cool down afterwards then it's totally up to you. You can do it with your custom programs.
The most impressive feature and as far as I know the first elliptical to feature this, is the Livetrack Interactive. You get a 2GB USB data stick included and you put it into the console before you workout. Then when you're finished you plug it into your PC. Here it downloads all your workout data and presents your progress in a graph. You even have the ability to download further workout programs.
I've got a picture of the pedals to the bottom right of this page. They've been specially designed to help your workouts. First of all there's practically zero spacing between them which is crucial for a smooth and natural ride. They're slightly arched in design like the foot and there is gel cushioning. This makes the LS13.0E even kinder on your joints than a normal elliptical.
I've mentioned the incline and resistance controls in the console section. The incline goes to 100% in increments of 5% and there are 20 levels of resistance. The incline means you can target the muscles in your lower leg, quads and buttocks in a variety of ways. If you're wanting to decrease the size of your buttocks have the incline high and work as hard as you can.
Max user weight
The maximum user weight is 350 lbs or 159 kg. The ellipticals I've reviewed on this site all have reasonable maximum user weights and that goes with the LS13.0E, it gets 4 stars because there is better out there. However I would be happy with 350 lbs and you should too. It should be able to take anyone in the family so don't let it sway you too much as to whether to buy.
The warranty is 1 year for the elevation motor, lifetime for the frame and brake, 5 years parts, and 2 years labor. The elevation motor is what the LS13.0E uses to raise and lower the incline. It's not surprising that this is a year as it's got to lift the user's body weight up and down on a regular basis. You can extend the warranty if needed. It's still better than most - 4 stars.
At the time of writing this LS13.0E is $1,199.99. This represents absolutely fantastic value. I would advise any one to buy before the price goes up. The LS13.0E is worth more than this. It's this and the Yowza Largo are the only ellipticals who get 5 stars for value on this site. Yet the Yowza Largo elliptical has only an overall score of 76%.
As you can see by the score this is one of my favorite ellipticals I've reviewed. The pedals are lovely and cushioned to climb onto. The console makes it easy to select what I want. There are enough programs to last a lifetime with the ability to create your own. The Livetrack Interactive component is excellent and brings it very up to date. With this you can monitor your progress and download more programs.
There are only 2 other ellipticals that have 93% and that is the Yowza Captiva ($1,999.00) and the Yowza Sanibel ($1,799.00). As you can see they cost $600 more! That is why this LS13.0E elliptical gets 5 out of 5 for value. Other reviews on the web are just as praise worthy and these are from other owners and other people who've used the elliptical. This is easily the best buy on this website.
