Yowza Pompano Elliptical Review

The Yowza Pompano is one of the best selling ellipticals from Yowza Fitness. They've priced it just right as it sits in the middle of their range and features their unique cardio core rotational upper body movement.

The elliptical is commercial grade. It's new for this year so it has all the latest features you'd find on a Yowza Fitness elliptical. It has excellent reviews on the web for it's smooth silent operation. It's rear driven like most commercial ellipticals and has a long stride length to exercise the whole of the legs fully.

Console5 stars
This is the best console I've seen and I think it's one of the best consoles you'll find on an elliptical at the moment - 5 stars. The readings give you vital information as you exercise so you get a feel of how hard you're exercising and the good it'd doing to you. This is from an advanced console that will enable you to have 9 user profiles so the whole family can have their own login.

The console is easy to read and also contains some luxurious features. There's a 3 speed fan to keep you cool. There's and ipod docking station with premium speakers. The console is sturdy and you'll appreciate navigating around it as the buttons are large, clear and easy to use. Everything is there in front of you whether you want to start a program or key in your user profile, it's all easy to do and is functional.

Programs4 stars
You often find in a gym or health club you don't use any programs you just get on, set the resistance and ride. That's a shame because I think programs are a useful tool in your workouts. They are particularly made to enhance your workout and give a specific area of your body or workout more focus. Whether that's fat burning, calorie burn, an upper body or lower body workout.

I think the programs for the Pompano elliptical are very good. You have the usual Yowza Fitness and other manufacturers fare like the counting down or up of calories burned, distance traveled or time. You also have a random program with 50 different variations. You also get an interval program where you'll find there are intervals of hard and easy sections of the program which exercises all of your different muscle fibers giving you a nice toned look.

What I think is missing and why it only gets 4 stars is there are no core rotational programs. That doesn't mean you'll miss the advantage of having this feature in the first place. I just feel they should have included for the Pompano as it has the rotational handlebars anyway. You will using them with all your programs anyway but it would have been nice to have the tailor made core programs. This is all including and above the manual program.

Features5 stars
What with the cardio core rotational handlebars I think this has excellent features just like the ellipticals that are more expensive like the Captiva ($1,999.00). Yowza Fitness have their own financing for their fitness equipment so if you like the Pompano and can't afford it immediately the finance option is there for you especially as you may get an interest free package for you.

The Pompano has 16 levels of resistance this is all programmable from the console with an easy up or down button as you ride. Some think that you start on a low level or just choose one and stick to it. While you can do this it's a good idea to use both high and low levels to stimulate different parts of the muscle and give your body an all over shaped look. Thus helping you lose weight all over the body. Of course it's all personal preference but intelligent use will help you get more from this elliptical.

The pedals are pivoting. You can see this explained in the video to the right. This is fantastic for your ankles and lower leg as there is no stress placed on these joints. It doesn't affect your workout in any way except to give you a more comfortable ride. This is something you don't even see on commercial ellipticals like those in a gym but you have them on the Pompano. I think the features compares more favorably than any other elliptical - 5 stars.

Max user weight3 stars
The maximum user weight is 330 lbs or 150 kg. This is a reasonable amount and you'll find nearly all good modern ellipticals that I've reviewed here have this. However, you can buy better so this gets 3 stars. It also gets this because for the price I would have liked slightly higher. As I've said before every elliptical these days are solidly built and when you buy one that's a thousand dollars or more you'll always get a decent amount.

Warranty4 stars
The warranty for the Pompano is lifetime for the frame and braking system, 5 years parts and electronics, and 2 years in home labor. This is good and what you'd expect for the price, you can buy better if you're willing to pay more. If you're thinking of buying an extended warranty then I would always say use the money to buy a better elliptical. If it hasn't gone wrong inside the warranty then it's not really likely to for many years.

Value4 stars
At the time of writing this Pompano is $1,499.00. This is an average price to pay for a good elliptical. I actually think if you're going to buy one then consider this price or higher because nine times out of ten you'll get a decent one. Like I said above don't bother with the extended warranty unless you really want it. The Pompano is a best seller for a good reason. It comes in at a good price and has all the most important features you need.

Overall 83%
I enjoyed the Yowza Pompano. It has a smooth action and ride. The console and features are all good. But as the overall percentage figure I've given is based on all the attributes above. It's the maximum user weight and programs which let it down. I would have liked to have seen a few extra programs for the elliptical you're getting and how much you're paying. As with all Yowza Fitness ellipticals they are a good manufacturer so they do get high marks all round.

Now, there are two other Yowza Fitness ellipticals that I recommend more than this and they are slightly more expensive. They are the Sanibel i35 (93%, $1,799.00) and the Captiva (93%, $1,999.00). However if you only have $1,499.00 then it's a good elliptical for the money and you have a machine that's has the latest features available in fitness equipment today. For this reason the Yowza Pompano elliptical is recommended.
